Prepare Your Aquarium Driftwood For Sale Before Putting It Inside

You may want to decorate your aquarium with driftwood but before you put it in you must make sure that it is properly treated and Tannin acid free. Fortunately, treating and curing driftwood is a simply DIY project which you can do it in your home. 



It involves drying, cleaning, and preparing. There are a few steps to follow and it all starts with brushing the driftwood. Take a stiff bristle brush and brush off the dirt and debris from the driftwood. Pay particular attention to the crevices and grains to get rid of the moss and sand.

Disinfecting The Driftwood

Disinfecting your driftwood is the next step and there are different methods of it. You can boil the Aquarium Driftwood for Sale as this is the safest and most common process. Make sure that you keep the wood in boiling water for several hours.



This will make the process more effective. If you can control the fire hazard then you can even heat the wood in your oven. However, using bleach is preferred more but make sure that you use nine parts of water to one part of bleach in the container which you will have to soak the driftwood for several days continuously.


Dry And Seal


Dry the driftwood leaving it in a low humidity room. When it is relatively dry you will need to seal the driftwood if you want to give it a different appearance. If you are okay with it and feel that it will blend perfectly well with the Aquarium rocks for sale then sealing is not necessary. However, sealing prevents damage to the soft driftwood pieces. You can use any wood sealer for this purpose.
