It involves drying, cleaning, and preparing. There are a few steps to follow and it all starts with brushing the driftwood. Take a stiff bristle brush and brush off the dirt and debris from the driftwood. Pay particular attention to the crevices and grains to get rid of the moss and sand.
Disinfecting The Driftwood

This will make the process more effective. If you can control the fire hazard then you can even heat the wood in your oven. Dry the driftwood leaving it in a low humidity room. When it is relatively dry you will need to seal the driftwood if you want to give it a different appearance.
